Agency | Ogilvy Hong Kong |
Client | IKEA x Pizza Hut |
With Pizza Hut attempting a turnaround in the UK and U.S., they are laying the tables of the Asia-Pacific region with a tie-up with Swedish brand IKEA to make tables.
The two companies have teamed up to create a special edition pizza that is topped with famous meatballs from IKEA, and, to create the “SÄVA,” a table that looks uncannily similar to the little pizza saver that keeps your toppings from sticking to the top of the box in transit.
Partnering with Ogilvy Hong Kong and using some fun social media posts over the last week to kickstart the campaign. One saw a Pizza Hut deliverer snoozing at an IKEA store. Another focused on the moment when executives came up with the lightbulb moment for the meatball topped pizza.
According to Ogilvy, the tie-up has been a hit with 67% more sales than expected in unit sales in the first three days since the Pizza hit stores late last week.
This campaign shows the playful side of Pizza Hut, and that our credentials can move beyond the kitchen into new and interesting collaborations with other brands

This is a great pizza, and this campaign really shows how collaborations can really benefit the fans—not just the brands
John Koay, Ogilvy Hong Kong ECD
This campaign is similar to the mini-patio set idea for Boston Pizza from Canadian agency John St. Which took the concept of the pizza saving looking like a miniature table and accompanied it with a set of Liliputian chairs to complete the set.
