Coronavirus advice for businesses from Google My Business

The latest advice from Google is to update your business listings.

You can update operating hours, descriptions, phone numbers and even keep your customers informed through Google Posts.

Google is asking business to keep their GMB listings up-to-date, especially if the business has been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Their latest help document describes what businesses can update including their operating hours, contcat details and descriptions, whilst they are also able to use Google posts to keep their customers informed.

Google’s Help Document

Google placed a note at the top of the GMB support pages that says, “If your business is affected by COVID-19, update your profile to provide the most accurate info. Learn more.”

For example, you can change your operating if you are closing early or add more details to your description. These updates will show on your business profile across Google Search and Maps.

Why this is important

It is crucial that you keep your employees up-to-date on your business operations. This is especially crucial if you are affected in any way that might impact how your customers are able to contact you or buy from you. These include contact details (phone number, email etc.) and opening hours.

Updating this information will let your customers stay up-to-date when they are looking for your products and business across Search and Maps.
