What to do when you lose your Google Website

Google’s announcement in January that they would remove their support for websites built and hosted using Google Business Profiles from the start of March 2024 will have come as a shock to many small businesses across the world, not just the UK.

Whilst the sites themselves didn’t allow for wide-ranging functionality, what they did offer was a way for businesses to secure their online presence and keep it updated. Now, with Google’s imminent shutdown, many businesses will be wondering what their options are without losing a crucial component of their online presence.

The simplest way to move forward is to build a website on another platform. There are plenty of web builders that Google has suggested users turn to. These are:

  • Wix
  • Squarespace
  • GoDaddy
  • Google Sites
  • Shopify
  • Durable
  • Weebly
  • Strikingly
  • WordPress

Each has its benefits and drawbacks which means some might be more suitable for your business than others. For example, a website builder like Google Sites or Wix offers a straightforward, albeit sometimes limited level of functionality, whereas a site built on WordPress offers more flexibility and functionality but comes with a higher cost.

If you are looking for a new website to secure your online presence away from Google Business Profile, book a website consultation with EPR Marketing.
